TAX MANAGER

Schumacher Sama LLP is a Wauwatosa based CPA firm providing tax, accounting and auditing services to small and medium sized businesses and individuals. We are currently seeking a tax manager who will manage a team of 6 and report to the Tax Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review tax returns for Individuals, Businesses, trusts, estates, and non-for-profits.
- Identify and respond to client issues in a timely, accurate, positive, and professional manner.
- Communicate advice and answer questions of other associates relating to clients’ accounting and tax situations.
- Communicate proactively with clients and engagement partners regarding project status, client service opportunities, and other significant matters in a timely manner.
- Proactively seek out new business opportunities with both current and prospective clients by participating in various business development activities and having a comprehensive understanding of services provided by the firm.
- Attain a thorough technical competency and industry specific expertise through CPE, firm/industry group events, webinars, etc.
- Research tax issues and respond to tax authority inquiries.
- Work with Tax Director to improve department processes and communication with audit and accounting services departments.
- Develop people through effectively supervising, training, coaching, and mentoring all levels of staff.
- Provide tax planning services for clients.
- Provide thought leadership and insightful recommendations surrounding a broad range of complex issues by leveraging expertise and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA required
- Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
- At least 5 years’ experience providing tax compliance and consulting services
- Successful track record mentoring and supervising staff
- Highly proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office applications, Quickbooks and Prosystems tax software.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Commitment to outstanding client service
- Ideal candidate will exhibit strong active listening and learning, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to monitor and assess the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

TAX SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns of varying complexity.
- Prepare federal and state corporate tax returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships
- Prepare federal and state tax returns for non-profits and trusts
- Obtain necessary information from clients for returns.
- Follow up with clients if additional information is needed.
- Provide feedback to tax manager and tax director to help improve processes.
- Work with junior staff to train and assist, and some review at times
- Be available for other projects, such as tax research, and investigating IRS or other notices received by clients
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7 years experience preparing individual, corporate, non-profit and trust tax returns ideally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Candidate must be organized and able to multi-task.
- Candidate must be able to work at a fast pace and work on multiple jobs concurrently.
- Positive attitude, willing to take initiative, be proactive and dependable.
- Experience with ProSystem fx Tax software is a plus but not required.
- Experience with Quickbooks or other accounting software a plus but not required.
- Skilled in Microsoft office and adobe acrobat.
